Fiesta

This past week we enjoyed Fiesta in Camarillo. A street fair filled with live music, vendors, food booths and carnival just near our house in Downtown. The food options where amazing from empanadas, BBQ, Bundt cakes and corn on the cob. Everything smelled delicious. A quick bike ride we spent a couple evenings mostly in the carnival area with JQ and Stellita. Which reminded me while I think Ferris Wheels are a classic, I do not necessarily like to ride them, or have my little ones ride them.  

The kiddie rides are much more my speed. I guess I have about 10 years to warm up to the idea these two will want to ride the Kamikaze or Hammerhead!! I know I did...and LOVED it.

Fresh air and sunshine, ocean air, clam chowder now that we are all feeling better. Sunday was beautiful here and we took advantage of it!  Sometimes getting everyone up and out of the house can be a workout but I am so glad we did! Speaking of...Mr. and I are going to start exercising together (again) now that we have found a place with an awesome child play center for JQ & Stellita. Even if I spend an hour walking on the treadmill or in the sauna, it clears my head and I feel refreshed. This isn't a new years resolution per say but rather picking up pieces of our routine from prior to the move. I am not really the new years resolution type. I am constantly reviewing, reevaluating. A continual work in progress the whole year through.

This week I am planning the details of Joaquin's 3rd birthday! I am so excited see his face and celebrate with him on his happy day. We are going to ride a historical train and throw a little party. Birthdays are so important,....gotta go big!

Also this week I am working on making this house feel more like a home. It is hard going from owner to renter! Things seems so sparse and a bit sterile so to combat that I am bringing in more candles, live plants and cozy blankets and throws. Hopefully the images I have in my head translate well into real life.

Wonka

This place reminds me of the park in my home town.

On a micro mini, Wonka Vision sort of scale. I've been just a touch home sick so this park has been good for my psyche.

 It is filled with lava rock and Oak trees. There is a nice trail that sweeps up along the hill side and then back down again into the Oak grove. Ponsettia grow along the road side and are in full hot bloom right now. Gorgeous.

Feeling Settled

Two weeks and I feel settled. Of course we are still feeling out the area, locating a playgroup and hopefully some Mommy friends. Things to do on rainy days, a new nap time routine and places to get great take out but it is starting to feel like home for sure. We have had house guests made nice with the neighbors and I have finished decorating the house (for now). I have to admit decorating the house was one of the very first things I thought of doing when we decided on the move. I dreamt of a new dining set and perhaps some art for our bedroom, none of which happened but I think things have come together alright. What is it about decorating/styling ones home that is so fun anyway? So fun!

On an other note. We JUST got Internet set up on my laptop last night. It has been really complicated with the service here for some reason. That said I will eagerly be back on the Small Style wagon next week! Yeeehaw!

Beginnings

This place is beginning to feel a bit like home! We are enjoying our first house guests this weekend "Popbee" and "Gigi" (aka my parents!) discovering new favorites to eat, shop, play and be seen at, as well as reconnecting with great friends. We are looking at this as an adventure, an experience, an opportunity. Tomorrow we will check out the farmers market just up the road and perhaps the beach if Mother Nature holds off on more rain, maybe even a date night for Mr. and I! Things are coming together and the kiddos seem to be adjusting well. JQ has had a couple of rough days but I am doing my best to make him feel safe and comfortable in his new surroundings (more on that later). With the holidays fast approaching I must remember Home is where we are, all together. Eating, laughing, playing. Linking up with Unknown Mami!

Una Buena Aventura

My husband has been ill off and on now for more than a month. After multiple tests, scans, labs y mas we still do not know what is wrong but are hopeful to have a resolution soon. We thought he was well enough to take a quick trip to Los Angeles so that his family could meet Miss Stella but after just a day we decided to turn back and head home. It is about an eight hour drive and we knew we had to make regular stops to let Joaquin run and stretch and so that I could nurse the baby. We decided to take "El Camino Real" north (IE HWY 1) along the ocean for a few reasons. I had desperately wanted to visit the ocean at some point during our trip south and seeing as I would be the one driving....

We stopped just outside Ventura, our old stomping ground and somewhere I am still totally in love with. Joaquin ran and played for a bit. Henry got some fresh air and I introduced Stella to the beach!

Because it was already late afternoon when we left L.A. we made it as far as Pismo Beach and ended up staying in a fabulous beach side resort there for the night. So although my husband was/is ill I think he was able to enjoy himself a little or at least be pleased that the babies and I were not totally bummed about cutting our trip short.

RINCON

As I have mentioned before we recently took a trip south to our old home, Ventura. We spent a week next to the ocean and on the beach. The weather was beautiful and we so many old friends came by to visit.Joaquin loved the sand and the water. We played for ours until we were all tuckered out. Naps in the afternoon and hit the beach again! I wouldnt be surprised if we ended up living next to the ocean again. We all seem to love it so much.
