Mr. had business in the city this week so I threw some things in an overnight bag and we went to visit him! The "city" is a nap times drive away so it really works out pretty well. The little ones and I arrived late afternoon and headed out to Old Sacramento for a stroll and some dinner with Mr. Marvelous. The States Capital is really a very lovely city and rather kid friendly!
After dinner on the river we walked to an outdoor mall and let the kiddos work out some wiggles. We did wild things like look at historic trains, walk under the freeway in the pedestrian tube and ride the escalator.
I know, I know!
The next morning Mr. got us breakfast in the suite before heading off to work, um yeah, he rocks!
The little ones and I enjoyed the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Land before heading home, once again during nap time. It was nice to be somewhere so different, yet close in the middle of the week.
If the opportunity arises, go for it, seriously!
It is amazing how refreshing a change of scenery can be.

What a perfect adventure. I love just packing up and doing little trips like that. I think I enjoy them more than a proper vacations.

ReplyDeleteSo awesome that you had a little overnight trip! I love moments like that...the change of scenery is so needed sometimes! The pictures look like it was a lot of fun! Trains, dinner by the river, escalators, room service for breakfast... my little ones would love a trip like this!
